Despite a capitalist system skewed by the influence of the writings of economist Milton Friedman, a handful of entrepreneurs nevertheless believe that every company could and should manage to make a profit while respecting the fundamental principles of a responsible company: taking responsibility for its global impact on the world, intended or not. In California in the 1970s, Yvon Chouinard launched a small company, PATAGONIA. He was one of the first to think differently about business.
